It was cold and I couldn’t drive for a few days after that but I am very grateful for the snowstorm in Peoria two weeks ago. That was my very first snow and my very first white winter. It was really beautiful how white everything was, touching the soft cold snow. You know, born and raised in Africa, I always wanted to experience snow/a white Christmas. I have been in the united states for almost 4 years now and I just got to experience something I dreamed of as a child. I am grateful for that. It might seem trivial but I take it as a privilege and when I look at my life I realize there are a lot of things that I take for granted just as I am sure most Peorians might take the snow. But instances like this make me stop to take stock and appreciate all the great things around and show gratitude.
